About three years ago, I spotted a fantastic little coffee table on Facebook Marketplace. It didn’t cost very much – I don’t recall how much I paid for it. I want to say around $40.
This coffee table had all the right curves – the cabriole legs, the scalloped edges, the low profile – I just loved it.
Anyway, I brought it home, lived with it as is for a few days, then gave it the ole “Waverly Cashew Chalk Paint” treatment. (If you’ve read some of my other posts, you know A. that I’ve refinished a lot of furniture and B. I’m a big fan of that color!).
After I painted it, I distressed it in spots using 180-grit sandpaper. Pleased with my work, I lived with it like that for a while – until one random day when I decided it needed a little more distressing. How did I, you may ask? By gently rubbing on some stain in various spots, mainly on the top surface. I protected the whole piece with A LOT of paste wax after the stain was dry, and here it is today.
To me, it gives shabby chic vibes in the best possible way. Love it! And here are a few pictures from along the way – and the finished table today.
