Fall is one of my favorite seasons to decorate for. I love bringing in warmer colors and cozy textures, but I don’t think decorating for fall means you have to completely redo a room—or cover every surface with pumpkins.
Sometimes just a few small changes can make your home feel ready for the season.
This year, I’ve been drawn to warm rust tones, soft cream, aged finishes and pieces that feel collected rather than overly “fall”. I also love mixing seasonal pieces with things that can stay out long after the leaves are gone.
I recently rounded up eight affordable fall finds that caught my eye, and they all work beautifully with the relaxed, French country style I love.
An Easy Fall Color Palette
Rust is such a beautiful color for fall because it adds warmth without being quite as bright as traditional orange. A textured rust pillow or throw can completely change the feeling of a neutral sofa or chair.
But I wouldn’t make everything rust. Mixing in cream, aged bronze, weathered wood—and even a little blue and white—keeps the room from feeling too themed.
Decor That Doesn’t Scream “Fall”
Some of my favorite seasonal pieces aren’t really seasonal at all.
A vintage-styled landscape, antique looking vase, rustic candle holders or muted hydrangeas can give a room that cozy autumn feeling without a pumpkin or fall sign in sight. And when November is over, many of those pieces can simply stay right where they are.
That is my favorite kind of decorating: use what you love, add a few seasonal touches, and don’t overthink it.
